What is Reiki?
The following will give you a little
background about Reiki and help to explain what it is and what it is
not. Love is an interesting energy! Everybody I have ever spoken to
tells me they want love, however many of them run a mile when it is
offered to them.
Fear of the unknown is the only obstacle that you have
to overcome to experience your happiness. The universal unconditional
love manifests itself, is experienced, in the form of a personal
comforter; this comforter is none other than the Reiki energy.
The key
to gaining your greatest benefit comes from acceptance and trust.
Relax, allow, give yourself permission and most of all enjoy the love
that you will experience.
REIKI’S FOUNDER: Dr. Makao Usui
The story begins in Reiki in the mid 1800’s
with a teacher, Dr. Makao Usui, searching for the ancient healing
system used by Christ, Buddha, and all the ancient great healers. His
quest enabled his final accomplishment of achieving enlightenment. It
was through his inner realisations that he gained the wisdom to help
others achieve their own path to enlightenment and developed the Reiki
system of healing.
Dr. Usui started by opening a school to
teach his spiritual teachings, he also offered individual healing
sessions for physical illness and emotional distress.
Dr Usui's legacy has now spread
throughout the world like a great fire burning all separations of
prejudice in its path. Reiki is now practiced regardless of the
practitioner's religion, creed, race or social status.
WHAT IS REIKI ENERGY?
The word Reiki means ‘Universal Energy’.
Eastern medicine has always recognised and worked with this energy,
which flows through all living beings and is vital to the well-being of
life. The energy is known as ‘ki’ in Japan and ‘chi’ in China, and
‘prana’ in India. Acupuncture, tai-chi and yoga are also based on the
free-flow of this energy in a person. It is available to everyone
because it is non-religious.
As a therapy and a personal development
tool, Reiki is an effective and simple way of tapping into this energy
and activating it for the benefit of the receiver, to stimulate the
body’s own natural healing potential. Reiki is a complementary non
intrusive method of helping heal a variety of illnesses; physical,
emotional and mental.
WHAT CAN REIKI DO FOR YOU?
In Reiki, the quality and flow of your
own inner healing energy is what determines your physical and emotional
health and well being. When you are unwell you are experiencing a block
in this natural universal healing energy and that blockage shows itself
to you as illness or emotional distress and pain.
The Reiki healer acts as a channel for
this healing energy like switching on a light switch in a dark room
reconnecting you once again allowing the flow of your own inner healing
energy to bring your body, mind and emotions back into balance and
harmony, restoring you back into a state of well-being and health.
QUESTION - WHY DO I LOVE THIS ENERGY?
Because it is from the beyond - beyond our
mind, beyond the self, it is from the essential nature of The Divine.
Reiki is purity. Reiki accepts all that allows its presence.
Reiki is a
living comforting balancing energy never changing in its compassionate
intention. It has no belief system. Reiki exists eternally and its function
is to bring wellness within dis-ease, to bring actual proof of a living
Beloved Universal Divine Consciousness to everyday human life, this is
why it is identifiable and available to all faiths.
THE REIKI DEGREES, INITIATIONS & ATTUNEMENTS
The ability to bring about healing during
Reiki is gained through receiving energy attunements during a special
initiation ceremony. The energy attunement opens a channel for the
universal life energy to flow through to wherever it is most needed on
a physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual level.
The attunements are
given by a certified Reiki Master-teacher, and the students have the
opportunity to progress in their learning through three degrees. Each
one deepening and strengthening their capacity to serve as a channel
for the universal life energy.
The first-degree mainly deals with the
self healing process and the recognition of one's own healing
potential. Self healing is the critical first step in becoming a Reiki
channel. Only when we take responsibility for our own healing are we in
a position to support others in their healing process.
In the Reiki
first degree you will receive three attunements - these are also known as
initiations. They create an open channel for more universal life energy
to flow through the upper body and out through the hands. The
techniques learnt in the first-degree are complete in themselves.
If
the student does feel drawn to work with this energy at a deeper level
the second degree training is recommended where upon completion you can
practice as a Professional Practitioner Healer and are able to charge a
fee for your services.
REIKI FLOWS DIRECTLY FROM THE SOURCE OF CREATION
The Reiki practitioner also understands
that he or she is only a channel. In a Reiki session, the practitioner
does not direct his or her own personal energy to the recipient but
merely serves as a conduit for the universal life energy.
The Reiki
attunements help to cleanse and clear any obstacles that might be
blocking your capacity to receive and transmit the energy - a capacity
that is, in fact, natural to all of us.
Second and Third degree
trainings include learning unique Reiki symbols and their mantras,
which are handed on from Reiki Master to student in confidence during
the second and third degree teachings.
BASIC REIKI PRINCIPLES
Reiki works with the endocrine system and
regulates hormone balance in the body and metabolism. On an energetic
level, the endocrine glands correspond to and interrelate with the
‘chakras’ in the energy body.
This powerful natural energy is available
to all of us and sustains our lives every day. It is this energy that
we draw and in the course of our daily activities. And if our lives
were perfectly in balance, it would be naturally replenished throughout
interactions with others in the loving environment, and with rest and
relaxation, fresh air, clean water, and wholesome, natural food. Of
course, our lives are not perfectly in balance, and that is where the
power of Reiki can be of help to everyone.
CAUTION - GUIDELINES FOR YOUR SAFTETY WITH REIKI
Reiki does not take the place of conventional medicine. Always consult
your Doctor for an acute or infectious condition and any problem of
urgent concern. Reiki is a complementary therapy that works effectively
alongside orthodox and alternative solutions.
